30TH ANNIVERSARY – OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE 23 - 26 June 2011
As you know this year sees us celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Our Lady in Medjugorje. Here in North Wales, we celebrated by following the Medjugorje Parish programme to the letter and to the hour, over 3 days. Preceded by a 10 day Novena and fasting. It was a time of great blessing for us all.
The Holy Spirit brought together people from all over the country to give thanks to God Our Father for this great gift of Our Lady in such a special way at this time; and to give honour to Our Holy Mother, Mary, Queen of Peace.
We had people who had lapsed in their attempts to live the messages but who returned home renewed, revitalized and on fire with the Spirit to persevere.
We had people who came because they felt alone in their parish, unable to share their enthusiasm for Our Lady Queen of Peace. They returned home full of hope and courage to approach their priest with the intent of beginning prayer groups or prayer days in their own parish/diocese.
We had people who had heard about Medjugorje but had never been, they came out of curiosity, and went home determined to source a pilgrimage that they could join.
We had people who came to their Mother because they needed Her love, they returned home with peace in their hearts and full of gratitude.
We had people who wanted to be a part of the great celebration; in thanksgiving for all that they have received since meeting Our Mother the Queen of Peace.
So many stories, so many blessings.
Finally, one of our greatest blessings can be found in the priests who joined us and led us so wonderfully the whole weekend. Each specially chosen by God for the task. The teachings received from these priests were wonderful. We thank Fr Salvatore Musella from Holywell, Father John Abberton from Yorkshire and Br. John Delaney OFM Cap. a priest who was called to his vocation whilst in Medjugorje some years ago.
As I say, it was a most blessed time for everyone, especially knowing that we were in communion with the parish of Medjugorje and other prayer groups throughout the world. All at the same time, raising their hearts and voices in prayer to heaven. We pray that heaven received our thanks and that God was comforted by our poor efforts at returning love to Him.
